Sycamore & Street Lamp - Sketching Outside

Welcome to Day 6 of Drawing Into Poems, my daily drawing/seeing/writing study into poetry.  You can read more about this month-long project here on my April 1 post.  Feel free to read the books with me and pull out your own sketchbook and jewelry box full of metaphor too...

Day Six - View from a Wall

Students - I am becoming more and more interested in sketching things out in the world, not just inside my home or inside others' homes. And yesterday, I realized that this project is beginning to teach me to stop and draw at anytime. There are many moments in life which I often fill with checking phone messages or looking up something on my computer. Now I plan to fill more of these moments with sketches, capturing the world around me, one small snapshot at a time. This alone will not only help my writing; it will enrich my life.
